Polestar Wizard Series
Affordable high class home theater

Throughout the ages poems, books, rituals and music have been integrated in the rivers of Chinese history and culture. Music is the voice of Chinese culture and this is true for any culture in the world. Vocal music has always been a very expansive way of expression and through it we are able to experience those from a vastly different culture or walk of life. Presently with the improvement of living standards and the technological innovation, home listeners are no longer limited to just music. To build and design a home theater is simply a reflection of our daily struggle to build a better life for ourselves. The Wizard series is launched with the aspirations that it will be suitable to anyone, whether they are building a living room home theater or an independent audio visual room.

The Wizard Series W-260 front speakers employs a three component 21/2 way design. It is equipped with an 1” silk dome tweeter and two 6.5” composite paper cone woofers.
The silk dome tweeter is constructed with magnetic liquid cooling technology. The liquid magnetic material is filled in the gap of the driver where the magnetic field is the strongest. By filling the gap, the force of the voice coil can be evenly distributed and thus reduce any sort of unwanted coloration or distortion. A secondary function of the liquid magnetic material is that it increases the power handling of the tweeter by acting as a heat sink to absorb the excess energy produced by the voice coil. A protective design that prevents the voice coil from overheating and burning and thus the durability of the tweeter.
The woofer diaphragm employs a composite paper cone. To increase diaphragm rigidity and control during large movements, a special coating has been added during the production process. Due to this enhancement, both the transient response and low frequency response have greatly improved and this is especially apparent during dialogue and low frequencies scene in a home theater setting.

Even under very strict limited cost control, the main speaker W-260 still insists on using the high-standard Hi-Fi Bi-wire two-wire crossover terminal design, leaving more room for enthusiastic equipment players, and mold casting The high-purity copper speaker terminal and connecting piece can effectively reduce the loss of signal transmission. In terms of reproducing the original sound, the details of the manufacturer are remarkable and commendable.
Even as a more economical model the W-260 still incorporates a bi-wire crossover terminal design and allows for flexibility in hi-fi applications. The binding terminals and jumpers are made of pure copper and will greatly reduce any signal attenuation.

From first glance the high craftsmanship of the Wizard Series is readily apparent. The structure of each component of the W-260 has a clear sense of hierarchy and design. The black gloss veneer is embedded within the dark matte wooden cabinet and the diametrically opposed textures creates a striking visual.
The front side of the cabinet incorporates a combination of gradual bevel cuts in its design. The sharp edges and corners are softened with some contouring and this gentle design is perfect in the context of a home theater environment. The W-260 also incorporates a detachable pedestal that is lacquered with a delicate texture in matte black. These three different elements complement each other and creates a very please aesthetic. The W-260 design is not only about form but function as well, the detachable pedestal also works to reduce resonance in the speaker so that a cleaner sound is produced. Truly at its price point the W-260 stands above its many peers in the market place.
To discuss the Wizard Series a note must also be made regarding the very user friendly ultra-thin design of the W-150T surround speakers. The W150T abandons the thickness of the traditional cabinet design without sacrificing sound quality due to the improvements in the cabinet’s inner structure. The innovative design of the components and the cross over reduce the depth of the cabinet to a mere 8cm and allows for great versatility so that the W150T may be installed in any sort of environment.
Due to so much information provided here regarding the Wizard series, the actual audition of this fantastic system will be detailed in the next issue.
